Shadow finds himself on a Houston street with no memory of arriving there. In fact, remembers nothing about anything at all. In his pocket, he finds a single clue to his identity: an address that leads him to an alley behind a notorious tattoo shop owned by a local god.

When he begins to see things that no one else can—magical things—Shadow suspects that he’s not a normal amnesiac. Or even human.
