The Porta Alchemica

by Jamie Ferguson

Jenn’s vacation to Italy is marred only by her boyfriend’s peculiar behavior. Not that this is anything new...Tomasz regularly stops in mid-conversation, stares off into space for a while, then furiously writes things down in the notebook he always has with him. He claims he’s writing a novel, but the arcane-looking pictures he draws don’t fit his explanation. Jenn finally learns what he’s really been doing when they visit the Porta Alchemica in Rome, and the statues guarding the door begin to move on their own.

About the Author

Jamie Ferguson focuses on getting into the minds and hearts of her characters, whether she’s writing about a saloon girl in the old West, a man who discovers the barista he's in love with is a naiad, or a ghost who haunts the house she was killed in—even though that house no longer exists.

Jamie lives in Colorado, and spends her free time in a futile quest to wear out her two border collies since she hasn’t given in and gotten them their own herd of sheep.
